Tim Ward enters Wild West Shootout at CAR
Mesa, Arizona native and current Harcourt, Iowa resident Tim Ward made the trip to Central Arizona Raceway this past weekend as the Rio Grande Waste Services Wild West Shootout returned to its Arizona roots.
Piloting the Jay and Michelle Schmidt-owned J&M Motorsports No. 4TW against a stout field of 45 Super Late Models, Ward encountered early adversity after contact with the wall during practice resulted in lingering rear-end issues. Despite the setback, he transferred into Saturday’s B-Main for another shot at the $25,000-to-win opener, advancing from 14th to seventh before his night came to an end.
After the team thrashed to repair the rear end, Ward’s challenges continued on Sunday when he suffered a flat tire caused by debris during his heat race. He rebounded with a seventh-place finish in the consolation race, earning a transfer to the Pro Power Dash, where he finished second—just one position shy of advancing, with only the winner moving on.
