Motor woes cut short Ward's weekend

Tim Ward returned to the Late Model ranks over the weekend, tackling a doubleheader with the Malvern Bank West Series.

On Friday at South Dakota’s Park Jefferson Speedway for the Bill Kirk Memorial, Ward opened the night by earning fast-time honors and then advancing two spots in his heat to finish second. In the feature, however, continued adjustments to slick-track conditions saw him slip to a 14th-place finish.

Saturday at Iowa’s Shelby County Speedway proved even more challenging. After running as high as fourth in the feature, Ward’s night came to an early end when motor issues forced him pitside.
