Ward kicks off 2025 with XR Dominator at Salina Highbanks Speedway
After a rain-plagued month of March, Tim Ward kicked off his 2025 season over the weekend with a trip to Salina Highbanks Speedway (Pryor Creek, Okla.) on Friday for the XR Dominator.
Drawing 66 XR One Nation Under Modifieds for the doubleheader event that fell under the United States Racing Association (USRA) ruleset, Ward competed in a pair of practice rounds on Friday before posting the seventh-fastest time in his 22-car qualifying group.
In a unique format that saw Ward draft a starting position for his heat race on Saturday, Tim ran into driveline issues, relegating him into a C-Main. After racing out of the C-Main and into the B-Main, Ward went 20th-to-10th in his final consolation race, which secured him a spot into the $100,000-to-win XR Dominator later that night.
Earning the 24th-starting spot, Tim was one of several drivers that fell victim to a flat tire. After driving all the way up to sixth from the 12th row, Ward suffered a flat right-rear tire on lap 39 that brought a disappointing end to his weekend. He was scored 15th in the final rundown.
